I am a science teacher for 16 years and currently teaching Marine Biology, Anatomy & Physiology-ROP Sports Medicine, and EL Biology. I am also the English Language Learner (ELL) Coordinator, Legacy Teacher Mentor and Science Department Co-Chair at Martin Luther King Jr. High School (RUSD) in Riverside, California. I received a B.S. degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), and currently working on my Masters Degree in Molecular Evolutionary Biology at CSUSB. I am the High School Director and California Teachers Association (CTA) State Council Representative Curriculum & Instruction Committee Vice-Chair. I am also the Chair for the CTA Good Teaching Conference Planning Committee, and is the CTA Common Core Advocate for CTA Region IV. In addition, I serve as a NEA Smarter Balanced Teacher Ambassador in Mathematics. I'm involved in providing professional development in Curriculum & Instruction for teachers through the Stanford University/CTA Instructional Leadership Core (ILC) Program with the focus on the implementation of the California Next Generation Science Standards and use of technology in the classroom.
